The British Standards Institution (BSI) was established in 1901. It is the world's first authoritative organization to implement quality certification, and the kite logo is well-known worldwide. BSI is recognized by three major accreditation bodies in the world, namely the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), the Netherlands Raad voor Accreditatie (RvA), and the United States Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB).
The BS5750 standard formulated by BSI in 1979 has evolved into the current ISO9000 international standard; the BS7750 standard prepared by BSI is the predecessor of the international environmental management standard ISO14000; the BS8800 standard formulated by BSI is the basis of the occupational safety and health management system OHSAS18000. BSI is currently the world's largest and most authoritative ISO9000, ISO14000, QS9000 and OHSAS18000 certification body. It has issued more than 70,000 ISO9000 certification certificates; ISO14000 has issued more than 1,000 certificates; it began to certify automobiles in 1978. QS9000 issued more than 1,300 certificates. In China, BSI has successfully provided certification services for Ericsson, Nokia, Shanghai Baosteel, China Intel, China Amway, China Ocean Shipping Agency Corporation, China Merchants Bank, China Construction Bank, Eastern Airlines, Air China and other enterprises.
